26 May 2023 – CITY OF TAGUM. As the highest policy-making body on statistical matters in the province, the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) in Davao del Norte along with its members assembled for its 2nd Regular PSC Meeting for CY 2023 on 26 May 2023, at the Training Room of Philippine Statistics Authority- Provincial Statistical Office-Davao del Norte.
In 2021, a total of 20,269 deaths were registered in the province of Davao del Norte, this is an increase of 27.8 percent from 15,862 in 2020. This is equivalent to a crude death rate of 19.0, or 19 deaths per 1,000 population in 2021. This corresponds to an average of 55 deaths per day, which translate to almost 5 deaths per hour.
In 2021, a total of 5,644 marriages were registered in Davao del Norte , with an increase registered marriages of 2,552 (83%) from the year 2020 total of 3,092. This increase may have been brought about by the eased quarantine measures of the pandemic Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
On the average, 88 babies were born daily, which translate to approximately four (4) babies born per hour in the province. Out of the total 32,155 live births 15,344 were registered at the usual resident of the mothers, while 16,811 were recorded at the place of occurrence. (Figure 1) Relatedly, 8,003 male births and 7,341 female births were at the usual residence of their mother, while 8,743 male births and 8,068 females were listed at the place of occurrence.
The headline inflation in Davao del Norte decreased by 0.5 percentage points in April 2023 (4.2%) compared to its inflation rate in the same month last year, which was recorded at 4.7 percent. The current inflation rate (4.2%) of the province is lower compared to the headline inflation of the Philippines and Davao Region, which stood at 6.6 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively (Table A).

The headline inflation in Davao del Norte increased by 2.0 percentage points in March 2023 (6.0%) compared to its inflation rate in the same month last year, which was recorded at 4.0 percent. The current inflation rate (6.0%) of the province is lower compared to the headline inflation of the Philippines and Davao Region, which stood at 7.6 percent and 9.0 percent, respectively.
