Registered marriages decreased by 0.3 percent in 2022
In 2022, a total of 5,629 marriages were registered in Davao del Norte, marking a 0.3% decrease from the total registered marriages of 5,644 in 2021.
On the average, 15 marriages were solemnized daily in the province.

Registered marriages highest in the City of Tagum
Among cities and municipalities, the highest number of registered marriages was recorded in the City of Tagum with 2,083 total marriages (37.0%). This was followed by the City of Panabo (16.2%) and the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) (11.6%).
On the other hand, Talaingod had the lowest number of registered marriages with only 102 or 1.8% of the total marriages in the province.
Most marriages registered in June
The highest number of registered marriages occurred in June with 646 or 11.5% of the total marriages in the province. This translates to a daily average of 22 marriages.
The month of December ranked second with 600 (10.7%), followed by the month of February with 563 (10.0%). On the other hand, the month of November had the least number of registered marriages with 301 (5.3%).
Majority of couples married between ages 25 to 29 years
Thirty-seven in every 100 men (2,076 or 36.9%) were aged 25 to 29 when they got married. About the same proportion was observed for females (2,222 or 39.5%).
The median age of marriage was 30 years old for men and 28 years old for women in 2022.
The number of men who are over 50 years of age (176 or 3.1%) was more than twice the number of women of the same age group (77 or 1.4%).
In 2022, a total of 199 (3.5%) marriages involved adolescent females below 20 years old. This is four times the number of marriages involving adolescent males (45 or 0.8%).
Majority of men in Braulio E. Dujali were aged 30 to 34 when they got married. On the other hand, most women in San Isidro and Talaingod were aged 20 to 24 when they wed.
Couples still preferred to be married in civil ceremony
Of the total registered marriages in Davao del Norte in 2022, 38.9 percent or 2,188 marriages were contracted through civil ceremony. Following closely were marriages officiated in Roman Catholic Church (2,101 or 37.3%), and marriages performed in other religious rites (1,218 or 21.6%).
The same manner was observed among cities and municipalities, except for the City of Tagum (48.1%) where most couples were wed in the Roman Catholic church.
Moreover, a notable number of marriages in Talaingod (40.2%) were performed in tribal ceremonies.
