Davao de Oro’s Economy Records a 6.10 Percent Increase in 2023

 

The economy of Davao de Oro grew by 6.10 percent in 2023 from its 2022 level, slightly higher than the 6.09 percent growth recorded in the previous year. This represents an increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from PhP93.10 billion in 2022 to PhP 98.79 billion in 2023.

The headline inflation or the overall inflation in the province of Davao de Oro for the Bottom 30% of Income Households accelerated to 2.4 percent in October 2024 from 1.3 percent in September 2024. This brings the average inflation rate from January 2024 to October 2024 to 3.7 percent. Inflation of prices in October 2023 was observed at 2.2 percent.

The headline inflation of prices in Davao de Oro accelerated to 2.4 percent in October 2024 from 1.5 percent in September 2024. This brings the provincial average inflation rate from January 2024 to October 2024 at 4.0 percent. The inflation rate in October 2023 was observed at 4.4 percent.

As of 30 September 2024, the count of individuals in Davao de Oro who are reported to have registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) also known as the National ID registration is 678,155, constituting 88.4 percent of the province's total population of 767,547. Notably, the PhilSys Registration Team (PRT) registered an additional 37,424 individuals from January to September this year.

The headline inflation of prices in Davao de Oro decreased to 1.5 percent in September 2024 from 4.8 percent in August 2024, or a decrease of 3.3 percentage points. Inflation of prices in September 2023 was higher at 6.1 percent. The average inflation for the year 2024 stood at 4.1percent.

Inflation of prices in May 2023 was higher at 6.6 percent. The average inflation for the year 2024 stood at 4.4 percent. (Table 1 and Figure 1)
