The increment in the inflation rate of Davao del Norte can be observed with its upward trend from 3.2 percent in March 2024 to 4.1 percent in April 2024. This trend is mainly contributed by the faster annual increase of the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages from a rate of 6.6 percent in March 2024 to 8.2 percent in April 2024. This is followed by the indices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from -7.0% to -6.2%), and transport (from 3.3% to 4.7%). (Table D).
Despite the increase of inflation rate in the province, a downward trend in April 2024 compared to their corresponding rates in March 2024 were observed in Table D for the following commodities:
- Clothing and footwear (from 5.2% to 4.7%);
- Health (from 2.9% to 2.5%);
- Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services (from 4.1% to 3.9%);
- Recreation, sport and culture (from 3.7% to 2.7%); and
- Restaurants and accommodation services (from 1.4% to 1.3%)
It can also be observed that the commodities for information and communication; education services; and financial services has shown no sign of increase nor decrease in inflation rate in comparison to their corresponding rates in the last month.
The inflation of the index for food increased from 7.0% in March 2024 to 8.8% in April 2024. The uptrend of the food inflation was mostly attributed by the faster annual increase in the price indices of vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses; fish and other seafood; and ready-made food and other food products n.e.c. (Table E).

Figure 2 showed that the PPP for the province of Davao del Norte steadied and was recorded at 0.82 from February to April 2024. This suggests that Php100.00 in 2018 is currently valued at PhP82.00.

Based Period. A reference date at which the index is equal to 100. The Base year is 2018. Inflation Rate. The rate of change of the CPI expressed in percent.
