More than 60 percent of the population 15 years old and over were in the labor force In April 2023, Davao Region's total population 15 years old and over was estimated at 3.76 million. Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) during this period was at 63.2 percent, accounting for 2.38 million Davaoeños (see Table 1). This is 5.8 percentage point higher compared to the LFPR of April 2022 with 57.4 percent; i.e. 246 thousand more Davaoeños are in the labor force in 2023 than in 2022. The year-on-year headline inflation of Davao Region slowed down further to 4.3 percent in July 2023, from 5.7 percent in June 2023. The average inflation rate from January to July 2023 stood at 7.4 percent. In July 2022, the region’s inflation was higher at 8.6 percent. Number of marriages increased by more than half. In 2021, Davao Region recorded a total of 22,012 registered marriages. It increased by 62.3 percent in year 2021 from the previous year. Over the decade, lowest number of marriages was recorded in 2020 at 13,566. Data showed that from 2011 to present, the trend on registered marriages was fluctuating. (Table 1 and Figure 1). Most number of couples married in December. Most number of marriages in 2021 occurred in December with 2,844 (12.9% of the total marriages in the region). The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office XI will conduct the July 2023 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 1 on 08 to 31 July 2023 in all provinces of the Region. The Labor Force Survey (LFS) is a nationwide survey of households conducted monthly and quarterly by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. Data from the survey provides information on major labor market trends such as labor force participation and unemployment rates, hours worked, past industries and occupations of the currently unemployed persons. Production of Vegetables and Root Crops slightly decrease by 0.3 percent. In 2022 Vegetables and Root Crops produced 150,988.73 Metric Tons (MT) in the region. It contracted by -0.3 percent from 151,494.60 metric tons in 2021. The decline was largely credited to the production decrease of green papaya by 370.52 MT and potato by 314.11 MT, from 2021 to 2022. However, between 2020 and 2021 total Vegetables and Root Crops production grew by 0.1 percent. Top 10 Vegetables and Root Crops by Volume of Production. Non-Food and Industrial Crops production drops by negative 0.9 percent. Non-Food and Industrial Crops (NFICs) production in the region registered 2,340,115.04 Metric Tons (MT) in 2022. It declined by -0.9 percent from 2,362,300.52 MT in 2021. The decrease was mainly attributed to the production drop of sugarcane by 52,355.19 MT or negative 17.4 percent from 2021 to 2022.
