The inflation in Davao Oriental eases to 7.7 percent in August 2022. Thisis a slight decrease of 0.8 percentage points compared with the 8.5 percent inflation recorded in July 2022. During the same period in 2021, inflation in the province was observed at 9.6 percent. The average inflation for the first 8 months of the year stood at 6.6 percent. (Table A and B, and Figure 1)
Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), Davao Oriental had a total population of 576,343 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.8 percent or 574,984 persons
As an integral part in the conduct of the 2022 PSA-led Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), the Philippine Statistics Authority – Davao Oriental conducted the CBMS Roadshow and other Information Education Campaign (IEC) initiatives in our hope to have a well-informed and well-participated CBMS operation. The activities were conducted last 4-5 August 2022 at the City of Mati, Davao Oriental.
The inflation in Davao Oriental further accelerated to 8.5 percent in July2022. This is 1.1 percentage points higher than the 7.4 percent inflationrecorded in the previous month. In July 2021, inflation in the provincewas observed at 7.6 percent. This is the highest inflation recorded sinceJanuary 2022. The average inflation for the first seven months of theyear stood at 6.4 percent.
CITY OF MATI, Davao Oriental – Preparations for the nationwide rollout of the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in Davao Oriental come August 2022 is currently underway. Under Republic Act (RA) No. 11315 or the Community-Based Monitoring System Act, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shall lead the implementation of CBMS.
The inflation in Davao Oriental accelerated to 7.4 percent in June 2022. This is 1.5 percentage points higher than the 5.9 percent inflation recorded in the previous month. In June 2021, inflation in the province was observed at 6.7 percent. The average inflation for the first semester of the year stood at 6.0 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)
City of Mati, Davao Oriental – The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) of Davao Oriental convened for its second quarter meeting for 2022 on 22 June 2022 at the Grand Conference Room, Provincial Capitol Building, Capitol Hills, City of Mati, Davao Oriental. The meeting was presided by Rogelio T. Lebria, Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA Davao Oriental and Co-Chairperson of the PSC. The meeting was attended by 16 out of the 23 member agencies.
The inflation in Davao Oriental decreased by 0.3 percentage points from 6.2 percent in April 2022 to 5.9 percent in May 2022. In May 2021, inflation in the province was observed at 7.4 percent. The average inflation for the first five months of the year stood at 5.7 percent.
As of 01 May 2020, the Province of Davao Oriental had a total population of 576,343 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.8 percent or 574,984 persons. This is 17,959 higher than the 557,025 household population reported in 2015, and 58,509 persons more than the 516,475 household population reported in 2010.
Persons in the labor force or economically active population include all persons 15 years old and over as of their last birthday who are either employed or unemployed. In 2020, Davao Oriental’s total population 15 years old and over was at 390,606 persons. The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) during this period was estimated at 57.3 percent, accounting for about 223,893 economically active Oryental Davaoeños (see Table 1). This figure is 1.29 and 0.29 percentage points lower compared to the estimated LFPR in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
