City of Mati, Davao Oriental – In celebration of the 33rd Civil Registration Month (CRM) this February 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Oriental Provincial Statistical Office will conduct a series of CRVS lectures every Friday dubbed as “Friday CRVS Lecture Series.” The activity aims to update the knowledge of PSA personnel on various topics about civil registration and equip newly-hired personnel of the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) in the province. This will be done onsite and online via Google Meet.

For the first in the series, a lecture on Birth Registration Procedures was conducted on 03 February 2022 at the Training Room of the Provincial Office. A total of 48 personnel attended the lecture. Of this number, 23 were PSA Davao Oriental employees both regular and projectbased while 25 were personnel of LCROs provincewide. The resource speaker was Registration Officer II Marlon A. Mag-aso.

For the succeeding Fridays, the following topics will be discussed: 1) marriage laws, 2) death registration procedures, and 3) correction of erroneous entries in civil registry documents.
Presidential Proclamation No. 682 declares the month of February of every year as Civil Registration Month (CRM) affirmed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on the 28th of January 1991. The annual observance aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents and enjoin policy makers and the Local Government Units (LGUs) to provide adequate funds for CRVS and enforcement and administration of laws
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme PSA@10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation. The public are also enjoined to participate in the 33rd CRM celebration by timely registering vital acts and events in their nearest LCROs.
