City of Mati, Davao Oriental – The Philippine ldentification System (PhilSys) teams assigned in the different localities of the Province of Davao Oriental intensified their efforts to register the remaining unregistered residents. This move was driven by the goal of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as the lead agency implementing the PhilSys in registering at least 92 million Filipinos by the end of the first quarter of this year. The PhilSys, commonly known as the "National lD" was established when President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act No. 11555 in August 2018. The law aims to provide a unique identification to every Filipino, simplifying government and private transactions, and promoting the seamless delivery of social services.

As of 21 February 2023, Davao Oriental already registered a total of 413,308, which is equivalent to 71 percent of its total population. The province's current PhilSys Step 2 Registration plan focuses on schoolsbased registration to cater pupils five (5) years old and above since majority of the residents aged 16 years old and above are already registered. ln light of this, the administration of the Provincial Statistical Office of Davao Oriental expresses its gratitude to the Schools Division Offices of the City of Mati and Davao Oriental for their unflinching support by approving the registration activities in schools that fall under their purview.

As PhilSys Registration continues its efforts to saturate the remaining registrants, the residents who are not yet registered are encouraged to engage in this initiative and visit the nearest registration centers and be registered.
