The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) of Davao Occidental conducted its 2 nd quarter meeting for year 2023 on 11 July 2023 at Training Room, 3rd Flr, Philippine Statistics Authority Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office, National Highway, Poblacion Malita, Davao Occidental.
The Davao Occidental annual headline inflation eased further to 3.1 percent in June 2023, from 5.3 percent in May 2023. With this month’s inflation, Davao Occidental average inflation for the first semester of 2023 stood at 6.8 percent. In June 2022, inflation rate was higher at 7.0 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)
The Davao Occidental annual headline inflation eased to 5.3 percent in May 2023, from 7.0 percent in April 2023. With this month’s inflation, Davao Occidental average inflation for the first five months of 2023 stood at 7.5 percent. In May 2022, inflation rate was lower at 5.1 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental conducted a two-day Demography 101 training workshop for the first batch of participants coming from the member agencies of the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) on 25-26 May 2023 at Training Room, Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office, National Highway, Poblcaion, Malita Davao Occidental.
Philippine Statistics Office - Davao Occidental, represented by Statistical Specialist II Rodon S. Tahil and COSW-Statistical Analyst Mae Leonacor Sibla, attended Provincial Government’s invitation for the conduct of Integrated Business Processing and Licensing System Seminar Workshop.
The total volume of corn production in the province recorded a decrease of 13.39 percent estimated at 13,636.08 metric tons for fourth quarter 2022 from 15,726.52 metric tons in the same quarter in the year 2021 as shown in Table 1. Furthermore, area harvested for corn production this fourth quarter also recorded a decrease of 6.69 percent estimated at 9,083.00 hectares as compared to last year of 9,734.00 hectares.
The total volume of palay production in the province recorded a decrease of 16.63 percent estimated at 583.09 metric tons for fourth quarter 2022 from 699.38 metric tons in the same quarter in the year 2021 as shown in Table 1.
