Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental conducted a two-day training workshop for the second batch of participants coming from Davao Occidental Provincial Line National Government Agencies and Local Provincial / Municipal Government Units on 05-06 March 2024 at Training Room, Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office, National Highway, Poblcaion, Malita Davao Occidental. The training course conducted is about Demography 101 which focuses on census and population.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Davao Occidental, as the vice chairperson of the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC), recognizes the importance of conducting such statistical training that will capacitate its local constituents in understanding demographic structure in order to plan public intervention to address arising social demographic issues.
A total of 23 participants from the local government offices attended the onsite training. The program started with a roll call of all participants by Registration Officer I Marian Jade M. Caluyan. PSA Davao Occidental Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin then expressed his gratitude and welcomes all the participants during his opening message. Meanwhile, PSA RSSO XI Statistical Operations and Coordination Division Office-In-Charge Senior Statistical Specialist Corazon P. Dres and Supervising Statistical Specialist Ma. Leah C. Magracia served as resource persons during the training.
After the lecture series, Assistant Professor II of SPAMAST Mr. Georgie F. Tabaranza and Education Program Specialist II of Department of Education-Schools Division of Davao Occidental Mr. Elvis Ryan J. Millan shared their impressions on the two-day training. All expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the learning experience in understanding demographic data in a technical and analytical approach.
In recognition to all participants who completed the sixteen hours training and workshop outputs, certificate of completion and token of appreciation were awarded to the participants.
The event concluded with a closing message from Supervising Statistical Specialist Munria L. Banto.
The training was essential for all local government offices, more importantly, its local planners and implementers as a good opportunity to grow their knowledge in understanding demography data and its participation in local decision-making. The initiative of the agency in conducting this training is driven by the goal of the PSC in equipping and up-scaling the statistical arms of the province.
