The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Davao Occidental presented the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) for the Municipality of Jose Abad Santos on 14 July 2025 at the Municipal Session Room.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Jason John A. Joyce and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Mr. Roger P. Deloy were in attendance, along with key representatives from various municipal offices.

MPDC Deloy, in his opening remarks, underscored the importance of CBMS in generating local-level data critical for poverty alleviation and local economic development promotion. He emphasized evidence-based decision-making is further strengthen with the utilization of CBMS data.

Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil provided an overview of the CBMS implementation in the province, followed by the presentation of initial findings by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin. Key statistics covered Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators that can be derived from CBMS data.

An open forum was facilitated by SrSS Tahil, during which representatives of various offices actively engaged and participated in. He further reported on the municipality’s compliance with the CBMS pre-data turnover requirements and discussed upcoming CBMS activities.

Statistical Specialist II Kimberly M. Ocariza, the designated Head Census Area Supervisor for Jose Abad Santos, delivered a message highlighting experiences from the field, particularly the efforts undertaken to reach farflung sitios and the lived experiences of the people there. She expressed that the CBMS data provides valuable insights that can support the development of responsive and targeted local programs based on the identified needs of the community.

Concluding the program, Mayor Joyce conveyed the LGU’s support and appreciation for the CBMS. He noted that the CBMS data would serve as a critical reference for the municipality’s 2026 Annual Investment Plan and affirmed the LGU’s commitment that the data will guide local governance in achieving the SDGs.
