28 July 2025 – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Davao Occidental successfully presented the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) for the Municipality of Malita. The event was held at the Mayor’s Office Extension, Poblacion, Malita.
This activity marks the fourth in the province-wide series of presentations aimed at engaging local officials, community leaders, and development stakeholders in reviewing the initial CBMS findings across the municipalities of Davao Occidental.
The CBMS is a technology-based, systematic approach to generating granular local level data. These data are essential for identifying and targeting households in the design, budgeting, and implementation of poverty reduction and economic development programs. The 2024 CBMS rollout is being led by the PSA in compliance with Republic Act No. 11315, also known as the CBMS Act.
A key feature of the event is the community validation session, which offers a platform for stakeholders to provide feedback and ensure the preliminary results accurately reflect on-the-ground conditions and local realities.
In attendance were key officials from the Municipality of Malita, led by the Honorable Mayor Benjamin Joseph P. Bautista, Jr.; Mr. Alcheme B. Dumdum from the Provincial Planning and Development Office; and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) delegation, headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin. In his message of acknowledgment, Mayor Bautista underscored the significance of the CBMS data and the preliminary results, expressing the municipality’s full support for the succeeding phases of the initiative and the optimal utilization of CBMS-generated information.
This undertaking further strengthens the ongoing collaboration between the PSA and the Municipal Government of Malita, reflecting a shared commitment to evidence based policymaking and data-driven local governance.
