The Philippine Statistical Authority - Davao Occidental represented by Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil, Statistical Specialist II Karen Rozyll G. Abaro, and Statistical Specialist II Kimberly M. Ocariza, in partnership with the Municipality of Santa Maria, convened for the Municipal Census-Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Coordinating Board. The meeting was presided over by Municipal Planning and Development Office IT Specialist Nikke P. Reyes on behalf of Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Eric R. Alvaro and Chairperson Municipal Mayor Claude Benjamin II D. Bautista. The members convened at the Municipal Trial Court, Poblacion, Santa Maria, Davao Occidental on 23 May 2024.
The simultaneous implementation of the POPCEN and CBMS in accordance to PSA Board Resolution No. 04, Series of 2024 was primarily designed to update population figures and the social registries at both the national and local levels. This initiative will provide data to policymakers to develop programs and policies geared towards economic development and poverty alleviation.
To ensure cooperation among stakeholders at all geographic and administrative levels, Census-CBMS Coordinating Boards (CCBs) were established in pursuant to PSA Board Resolution No. 05, Series of 2024. The CCBs are responsible for issuing guidelines, providing assistance, and offering support necessary for the successful conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.
During the convening, the legal bases, scope and coverage, along with the approved PSA Board Resolutions and the updated timeline of activities with details on the progress of the Barangay Profile Questionnaire Data Collection and Service Facilities and Government Projects Listing were discussed. Additionally, the manpower requirements of the Municipality of Santa Maria for the Household Data Collection were presented including an updated list of applicants per barangay who submitted their applications online. The need for logistical support for trainings and the headquarters of the enumerators and supervisors was underscored.
This collaboration between the Santa Maria LGU and the PSA demonstrates a shared commitment to using data to make informed decisions for the residents of the municipality.
