The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao del Sur has started registering children below 5 years old in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). This initiative is part of the nationwide effort to provide every Filipino with a unique and secure identification under the PhilSys.
On 14 February 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao del Sur began its first National ID registration for children below 5 years old at the PSO Registration Center in Davao City. The registration can be initiated through sequential registration.
It is required that the parent or guardian must be PhilSys-registered first. During the registration of children, only the demographic information and front-facing photograph will be collected. The complete biometric information will be captured when the children reach the age of five.
As of May 31, 2024, PSA Davao del Sur has successfully registered a cumulative total of 4,490 children aged 1 to 4 years old, encompassing both Davao City and Davao del Sur, securing their identities early. The PSA encourages parents or guardians to bring their children to the nearest registration center for assistance.
