City of Mati, Davao Oriental- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Oriental wraps up its successful six-day Provincial Level Training for the 2024 Census of Population (PopCen) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). This crucial training initiative, held from 10 to 15 June, has equipped our Census/CBMS Area Supervisor with the necessary skills and knowledge for the City/Municipal Level Training, and to efficiently carry out the significant data collection.
The comprehensive training sessions were designed to ensure that all personnel are thoroughly prepared to conduct the 2024 PopCen and CBMS with the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. The training covered a wide range of topics including data collection methodologies, ethical considerations, and the use of digital tools for data recording and processing.
PSA Davao Oriental (Officer-in-Charge) Supervising Statistical Specialist, Emily P. Tomogdan, emphasized the importance of reviewing and familiarizing the concepts of the PopCen and CBMS in her closing message. “The data collection must be accurate and we must avoid delays since we have our set of deadlines to be fulfilled. I am very particular about the successful conduct of the PopCen and CBMS, and it will not be successful without you and your support.” The 2024 PopCen is a nationwide undertaking designed to take an inventory of the total population in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the CBMS entails a Census of households and the generation of data at the local level which serves as a basis for targeting beneficiaries for government programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.
As PSA Davao Oriental gird towards the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System implementation, the office enjoins all the stakeholders, the Local Government Units (LGU), partner agencies, and the community members for their continued support and cooperation.
