CITY OF MATI – The Provincial Statistical Office of Davao Oriental, in coordination with the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Cateel, Davao Oriental conducted a “Symposium on Civil Registration” on 18 February 2019 (1PM-5PM) at Maryknoll Academy of Cateel. The symposium is one of the many activities of the provincial office in celebration of the 2019 Civil Registration Month (CRM).
The activity, participated by senior high school students and students of the said school as well as teachers from other schools in the locality aimed to inform and educate the public on the importance of registering acts and events concerning status of persons and enhance their awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.’
Mrs. Ledamin U. Castillones, the municipal civil registrar of Cateel explained the rationale of the activity and assured the PSA of his commitment and support to all its programs and activities particularly on civil registration.
Administrative Officer I Jann Blair P. Salinas explained this year’s CRM theme: “Inclusive and Responsive CRVS: Working Smarter through Innovation.” He also discussed all the topics during the symposium, namely: registration of births and the procedures of correcting erroneous entries in the civil registry documents through Republic Acts 9048 and 10172 and the revised implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of RA 10172.
The students and the teachers alike were given the time to ask questions and clarifications regarding civil registration during the open forum.
The symposium in Cateel was the second of the series of symposia that were conducted all over the province.
