CITY OF MATI – The Provincial Statistical Office of Davao Oriental, in coordination with the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Boston, Davao Oriental conducted a “Symposium on Civil Registration” on 18 February 2019 (8AM-12NN) at Boston National High School. The symposium is one of the many activities of the provincial office in celebration of the 2019 Civil Registration Month (CRM).

The activity, participated by senior high school students of the said school aimed to inform and educate the youth, being the future of the country on the importance of registering acts and events concerning status of persons and enhance their awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents.

Mr. Robert V. Marquez, the municipal civil registrar of Boston explained the rationale of the activity and assured the PSA of his commitment and support to all its programs and activities particularly on civil registration.

In his message, OIC Rogelio T. Lebria thanked the LCRO of Boston for its continued support and for actively partnering with the provincial office in its information and education drive. He also explained this year’s celebration of the CRM: “Inclusive and Responsive CRVS: Working Smarter Through Innovation.”

Topics that were discussed during the symposium includes registration of births that was explained by OIC Lebria and the procedures of correcting erroneous entries in the civil registry documents through Republic Acts 9048 and 10172 and the revised implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of RA 10172 that were discussed by Administrative Officer I Jann Blair P. Salinas.

The students and the teachers were given the time to ask questions and clarifications regarding civil registration during the open forum.

The symposium in Boston was the first of the series of symposia that were conducted all over the province.
