The Philippine Statistics Authority - Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Municipal Level Training of the Census of Population (POPCEN)-Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) and Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) Listing at the Municipal Trial Court, Municipal Hall Grounds, Poblacion, Santa Maria, Davao Occidental on 02 May 2024.

The training was led by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin together with Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil, and Statistical Specialist II Kimberly M. Ocariza. Punong Barangays, Barangay Secretaries, and representatives of the Municipal LGU attended the training.

Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Eric R. Alvaro welcomed the participants highlighting the background and emphasizing the importance of the integrated POPCEN-CBMS operation in updating the population and social registry of Santa Maria.
 

The training provided a comprehensive overview of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS and the specific data items in the BPQ and barangay and city/municipality SFGP Listing to be filled out by the Barangay and Municipality personnels. The collected data on barangay profile from the BPQ shall be used to update the urban-rural classification of barangays. The listing of service facilities and government projects, on the other hand, shall serve as a reference file in the conduct of the geotagging of service facilities and government projects for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS. The data collected shall be used to design and implement programs aimed at economic development and poverty alleviation.

The training concluded with closing remarks from Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Prince Lloyd D. Depalubos who underscored the importance of the POPCEN-CBMS to effectively target and update government beneficiaries ensuring that government programs and services are directed towards those who need them most. MLGOO Depalubos highlighted the role of local government units in supporting the conduct of the POPCEN-CBMS where collaborative efforts will be essential to the success of the operations.
