The Philippine Statistics Authority - Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Municipal Level Training on the 2024 Census of Population and Community Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) Data Collection and Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) Listing at the Executive Conference Room, Municipal Hall Building, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental on 10 May 2024.
The training was led by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin, Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil, and Statistical Specialist II Kimberly M. Ocariza. The training was attended by representatives from twelve out of fifteen barangays of Don Marcelino along with a Municipal LGU personnel.
Vice Mayor Mark Edward Anthony M. Maruya urged LGU representatives to extend their full support to the PSA in the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS operations, emphasizing the benefits for their constituents. Honorable Maruya highlighted the critical role of the joint conduct of the POPCEN and CBMS at the barangay level to determine socioeconomic characteristics of the population and to ensure accurate identification of social protection program beneficiaries.
The training provided the participants with a comprehensive overview of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, detailed instructions on completing the BPQ and SFGP Listing. The data on the barangay profile shall be used to update the urban-rural classification of barangays while the listing of service facilities and government projects shall serve as a reference file for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS geotagging operations. These will be utilized to develop facts, figures, and maps of the different dimensions of poverty. Information regarding the Household Profile Questionnaire (HPQ) data collection were also outlined including manpower requirements, qualifications, and application procedures.
Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Bernard C. Delute concluded the training session reiterating the importance of the BPQ Data Collection and SFGP listing. MPDC Delute underscored the critical role the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in updating the National Tax Allocation share of the LGU. The partnership between the PSA and the LGU in the upcoming activities will be crucial to ensure the successful implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.
