The Philippine Statistics Authority - Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Municipal Level Training on the Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) and Service Facilities and Government Projects (SFGP) Listing at La Breeza Building, Caburan Small, Davao Occidental on 09 May 2024.

The training was led by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin alongside Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil and Statistical Specialist II Kimberly M. Ocariza. Representatives from all 26 barangays of Jose Abad Santos along with personnel from the Municipal LGU attended the training.

Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Roger P. Deloy provided a background on CBMS and cited the rationale of the BPQ Data Collection and SFGP Listing in identifying necessary interventions at the barangay and municipal level. MPDC Deloy further highlighted that the joint conduct of the POPCEN and CBMS will not only take an inventory of the total population but it will also determine the living conditions of the household and the updating of the Listahanan to identify beneficiaries of government social protection programs.

The training provided a comprehensive overview of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS and the specific data items in the BPQ and barangay and municipal SFGP Listing to be filled out by the Barangay and Municipality personnels. The data on the barangay profile shall be used to update the urban-rural classification of barangays while the listing of service facilities and government projects shall serve as a reference file for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS geotagging operations. These will be utilized to determine facts, figures, and maps of various dimensions of poverty.

Activities of the upcoming Household Profile Questionnaire (HPQ) data collection were also presented. The barangay personnels were informed of the manpower requirements for their respective barangay. The qualifications, documentary requirements, and application procedures were also discussed.

The training concluded with closing remarks from Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin expressing his gratitude for the active engagement of the participants and underscoring the importance of collaboration between the PSA and the LGU for the successful implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.
