Philippine Statistics Office - Davao Occidental, represented by Statistical Specialist II Rodon S. Tahil and COSW-Statistical Analyst Mae Leonacor Sibla, attended Provincial Government’s invitation for the conduct of Integrated Business Processing and Licensing System Seminar Workshop.

The Provincial Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Office (PEEIPO) of the Province of Davao Occidental spearheaded the workshop on 22 May 2023, at ABC Gymnasium, Malita, Davao Occidental. The workshop was in partnership with the Department of Information and Technology (DICT). The meeting was attended by representatives of the Business Processing and Licensing Office from Municipal Local Government Units, National Agencies, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The workshop provided an orientation on Integrated Business Permit and Licensing System (iBPLS) and Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI). Also, it provided an understanding on the purpose and scope of the iBPLs System including its legal basis, access levels and process flows which were discussed by lecturers from DICT.

The iBPLs system was developed in order to automate Business Processing and Licensing System. Considering the challenges that arises in complying the Republic Act 11032 or “Ease of Doing Business” and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018 by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), digitization of LGUS processes, systems and procedures has been recognize by the local government as a key player for a speedy, efficient, and reliable service.

Statistical Specialist II Tahil, in behalf of PSA Davao Occidental shared his insights and appreciated the development of the iBPLS system. He said that PSA as, a data-user agency, and as mandated by the government will be conducting training on local officials for the use of Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC).

Seconded by iBPLs Focal Engr. Virgil A. Fuentes, he shared that among recognized challenges in local government offices is providing reports to data users from government agencies. Providing report comes with challenges in data filing and sorting report/s out of those data. Even in using standard codes.

The workshop was closed with remarks from PEEIPO Head Givel Mamaril, MPA.

The event was essential for all system and data users across all local constituents. With achieving a certain degree of such advancement, it is hope that there will be more time to analyze with the help of automated processes.
