Malita, Davao Occidental – In observance of the 35th Civil Registration Month with a theme “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System", the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental facilitated an Orientation on Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2021 on 13 February 2025, at the Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office.

The activity was attended by solemnizing officers from various religious denominations, providing them with updated technical knowledge on civil registration procedures and legal mandates concerning the solemnization of marriage. The orientation aimed to enhance the participants' competencies in complying with civil registration laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely registration of vital events.

Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Jessie A. Madulin presented the Basic Concepts and Procedures of Civil Registration, outlining the fundamental principles and statutory provisions governing the system. Supervising Statistical Specialist (SSS) Muria L. Banto expounded on Administrative Order No. 1, Series of 2021, which prescribes the updated guidelines on the registration, accreditation, and responsibilities of solemnizing officers in accordance with the provisions of the Family Code of the Philippines and relevant civil registration laws. Registration Officer I Marian Jade M. Caluyan conducted a detailed lecture on the proper filling up of the Certificate of Marriage (COM), ensuring that solemnizing officers are well-versed in recording marriage details with precision and compliance with legal standards.
 

This initiative underscores PSA Davao Occidental’s commitment to strengthening the integrity, efficiency, and accessibility of civil registration services by equipping stakeholders with the necessary technical expertise. Through this orientation, solemnizing officers are expected to enhance their adherence to established protocols, thereby reducing errors and improving the overall quality of marriage registration records in the province.
