The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office recently conducted Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Closing Ceremony with a Poster Making Contest for Junior High School Students at PSA Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office on 28 February 2023.The purpose of this competition is to bring out the creative expression of students and gauge their knowledge and awareness on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics.
Seven competitors from various private and public schools in the province made up the contestants. Each participating school had one participating student and one coach. All participants were enrolled for the 2022–2023 academic year as a junior high school student.
Accumulating the final scores of 91.7%, 87.7%, and 85.0%, the representative from Mariano Peralta National High School New Argao Extension bagged the first place, Tamaing Tribal National High School in second place and Jose Abad Santos National High School in third place.
The names of the winners were as follows:

2nd Place: Jesryl G. Guindolan
School: Tamaing Tribal National High School
3rd Place: Kristine Kaira M. Buan
School: Jose Abad Santos National High School
The participants, coaches and represented schools received certificates and the winners received certificates and cash prize as follows: 1st Prize Php 3,000, 2nd Prize Php 2,000, and 3rd Prize Php 1,000.
The celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 682 which declares the month of February of every year as Civil Registration Month affirmed by former President Corazon C. Aquino on the 28th of January 1991. The annual observance aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents and enjoin policy makers and the Local Government Units (LGUs) to provide adequate funds for CRVS and enforcement and administration of laws.
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme PSA@10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation. The public are also enjoined to participate in the 33rd CRM celebration by timely registering vital acts and events in their nearest LCROs.
