As the office is steadfast in delivering its mission to provide efficient civil registration services, it is also dedicated to promoting inclusivity and getting everyone in the picture. By implementing the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP), many individuals from marginalized communities are privileged to free birth registration which paved the way for their national identity (Nationality). This national identity had become their ticket to accessing quality health and social services.
Meanwhile, the Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office conducted a two-day simultaneous awarding of Certificate of Live Birth to beneficiaries from the four major barangays of Don Marcelino. A total of 294 Birth Certificates were awarded to individuals from Brgy. Kiobog, West Lamidan, Lapuan and Talaguton.
Recipients were beyond grateful for the time and amount they saved from obtaining the document.
“Pasalamat jud tawon ko kay nalibre ang lima ka birth sa akong anak, layo biya jud tawon ning among dapit”. (I am thankful because five of my children just received their birth certificate free of charge considering the remoteness of our community), according to one of the beneficiaries.
The activity's success is with the Local Civil Registry Office of Don Marcelino, PSA Davao Occidental and barangay functionary’s joint effort of reaching out to communities and good information dissemination.
“On behalf of CSS Jessie A. Madulin, we want to thank the functionaries of these four Barangays and the Local Civil Registry Office of Don Marcelino for a collaborative effort to reach these communities continuously. It does not end here as there’s more to come. We will not cease until every Juan in the province is registered”, said ROI Marian Jade M. Caluyan.
The two-day activity concluded with a hundred beneficiaries are wearing a happy face as they have just obtained their Certificate of Live Birth for free.
