Philippine Statistics Office - Davao Occidental, represented by Statistical Analyst Karen Rozyll Abaro and COSW-Statistical Analyst Mae Leonacor Sibla, attended PMSMED meeting invitation in discussing council's future work program. 
 

The Provincial Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Office (PEEIPO) of the Province of Davao Occidental headed the meeting on 01 February 2023, at The Conference Room, PEO Building, Lais, Malita, Davao Occidental. The meeting was attended by representatives from Local Government Units, National Agencies, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). PEEIPO Investment Promotions Head Givel Mamaril, MPA presided the meeting. 
 

The meeting was called in order to discuss needed coordination, cooperation, and support from and among agencies in the success of work program. Considering that promoting investment and enterprise development has been agreed as the major theme for the development cooperation in future work program. The meeting is one of their steps in ensuring success and achieves the objectives of their council.

All participating agencies were asked regarding any devolution plans of each offices to address social (MSMEs) issues.

SA Abaro shared and explained in the meeting that there’s no current devolution plans as for PSA. She added that in pursuing the agency’s mandate and providing service, there’s on-going talks with the Provincial and municipal governments in the conduct of CBMS which will serve as registry of relevant data and information among the residents of the community to help planners in addressing socio-economic issues. CBMS will be conducted by the LGUs wherein PSA will provide technical support and conduct trainings to hired personnel who will conduct the census and capacitate LGU personnel in the analysis of data gathered.

Aside from devolution plans, agricultural, socio-economic projects, and concerns in supporting and enhancing MSMEs and its programs was also discussed in the meeting. It is hoped that through this venue, there will be a thorough analysis of the issues to focus on while promoting investment and enterprise development.
