In their commitment to deliver inclusive identification system to all Davaoeños, the PhilSys Registration Team (PRT) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao de Oro conducted a special arrangement registration for the three (3) senior citizens in Brgy. Manat, Nabunturan, who are incapable of bringing themselves to register for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) last 09 June 2023.
The PRT personnel of Davao de Oro continues their effort to bring registration center closer to people by conducting mobile registrations in schools, far flung areas, and institutions. Yet despite these efforts, they are still individuals who were not able to register for the National Identification (National ID) and one of which are senior citizens who are bedridden due to illnesses and disabilities. This minority has been reached by the PRT with the initiative of the family members who asked for help from the Local Civil Registry Office of Nabunturan who also made a request to PSA Davao de Oro. During an interview with the family member of one of the registrants, he has seen the importance of having their parents be registered to PhilSys for it will provide their parents a valid proof of identity to avail the social services of the government which will augment their daily subsistence and other medical needs.
This undertaking is pursuant to Section 8 of the Republic Act 11055 known as “Philippine Identification System Act” which declares that every citizen shall register personally to (a) registration centers that have the facilities to capture information required in the registry or (b) special arrangement for the registration of minors, senior citizens, persons with disability, indigenous persons and persons in the institutional households.
