The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao de Oro took center stage at the Kapihan sa PIA as one of the guest speakers last 20 July 2023 at the 2nd Floor of NCCC Nabunturan. The event was a big success, with PSA’s focused discussions on the upcoming conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (2022 CAF), updates on civil registration, a snapshot of the inflation rate, and the progress accomplishments of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or the National ID implementation.

Statistical Specialist II (SS II) Glofel F. Peregrino of PSA Davao de Oro began by providing updates on the inflation rate in the province, revealing that in June 2023, the inflation rate stood at 5.5 percent. He then delved into the preparations for the 2022 CAF, highlighting that this large-scale government undertaking, which is conducted every 10 years, aims to collect vital data on the agricultural and fisheries sectors. The primary mode of data collection for this statistical activity will be through a Computer-Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) application using tablets.

Moreover, SS II Peregrino proudly shared the agency’s achievements particularly the successful implementation of the inclusive identification system or National ID. The PhilSys registration teams continue conducting mobile registration to schools, institutions, even to far-flung barangays, and marginalized communities to facilitate ease of access to the National ID registration. As of 30 June 2023, 81.9 percent, or 628,342 individuals in Davao de Oro are already registered to the National ID. Recognized as a significant milestone, the agency's streamlined registration process and facilitated access to essential government services through PhilSys have garnered appreciation.

This hybrid press conference gave an understanding to the audience which was composed of representatives from the media and academic sector, that PSA offers more than just the provision of civil registry documents. Now, they have known that the agency is truly committed to delivering reliable statistics to the public and its stakeholders.

Indeed, this active participation of PSA Davao de Oro in Kapihan sa PIA reflects a dedication to the agency’s annual theme “Providing Quality Services through Digital Transformation”.
