In their remarkable display of commitment to inclusivity and community welfare, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao de Oro successfully conducted the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID Registration and PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) in the remote area of Purok 8, Brgy. Datu Ampunan, Laak last 09 August 2023, serving the Dibabawon tribe.
This initiative was undertaken in response to the request of their barangay officials, headed by Punong Barangay Erwin Loquina, recognizing the need for every resident to have access to official identification and documentation. The Dibabawon tribe, which was the target indigenous community to be reached by the PSA services, is part of the cultural diversity in the country.
This undertaking is reported to assist 75 individuals for the application of their late birth registration through PBRAP which aims to ensure that every Filipino, regardless of their location or background, will be given equal opportunity to record their vital events. Moreover, 65 Dibabawons were registered to the National ID, giving them proof of identity and access to avail the social services of the government, among others.
Yet, PSA Davao de Oro’s commitment doesn’t end here. Acknowledging that there are still individuals awaiting registration, the agency intends to revisit the area for another round of registration, ensuring that no one is left behind for this inclusive identification system.
For PSA Davao de Oro and its PhilSys registration team, each registration isn’t just a record but a promise of an inclusive Philippines, making the country stronger and more connected where everyone counts.
