26 May 2023 – CITY OF TAGUM. The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) in Davao del Norte, as the highest policy-making body on statistical matters in the province, convened its 3rd Regular PSC Meeting for CY 2023, on 29 September 2023. The meeting was held at the Training Room of the Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Statistical Office-Davao del Norte. With the presence of fourteen (14) PSC member offices, the quorum was declared at 12:20 in the afternoon by the PSC Chairperson, Acting-Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator of PPDO Davao del Norte,
Engr. Maria Hazel C. Zafra, EnP, MMPA.

Highlighted during the convening were the agenda, to wit:
1.) Presentation of Official Statistics of member offices;
2.) Enjoining the support if of NLAs, LGUs, Academe, and Private Sector to the
34th National Statistics Month (NSM);
3.) Approving and adopting the 34th NSM Calendar of Activities;
4.) Updates on the Conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (2022 CAF);
5.) Updates on the Implementation of Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS);
6.) Updates on Philippine Identification System (PhilSys);
7.) Updates on Provincial Product Accounts in Davao del Norte;
8.) Presentation of Latest Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Resolutions; and
9.) Presentation of Latest PSA Board Resolution


Agendum 1. Presentation of selected Official Statistics of member offices As agreed in the 2nd PSC regular meeting, office’ members of the PSC need to present before the Committee the statistics emanated from the mandate of their respective offices.
Relatedly, Tagum Cooperative President, Ms. Nenita R. Malbas, CPA was first to present the 2023 coop’s financial highlights which includes the movements of the institution’s assets, deposits, share capital, and net surplus.


A presentation was also delivered by the PNP DDNPPO Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, PTCOL Julius A. Borja, wherein he explained briefly the police terminologies to the body and followed up on the relevant crime statistics of the province.
Agendum 2. Enjoining the support of RLAs, LGUs, Academe, and Private Sector to the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM); In accordance to the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM) for the whole month of October 2023, a resolution for the support of NLAs, LGUs, Academe, and Private Sector to the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM) was solicited and was duly approved by the body.

Agendum 3. Approving and adopting the 34th NSM Calendar of Activities Following the motion to enjoin the support of NLAs, LGUs, Academe, and Private Sector for the coming 34th NSM celebration, a series of activities sponsored by the PSC members in coordination with the Philippines Statistics Authority Provincial Statistical Office-Davao del Norte were presented. The committee thoroughly discussed about the details of the said activities to ensure the success of the month-long celebration.


Agendum 4. Updates on the Conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (2022 CAF); PSC Head Secretariat, Ms. Michelle O. Maningo provided the committee with the update regarding the ongoing 2022 CAF operations, highlighting the status on the issuance of Executive Orders and convening of the City/Municipal Census Coordination Board (C/MCCBs) in the eight (8) municipality and three (3) cities in the province.


Agendum 5. Updates on the Implementation of Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS); Ms. Charielle Mae C. Catigara, Statistical Specialist II of PSA PSO-DDN provided the committee with the update regarding the CBMS operation in the province, and noted that completion rate of the data collection and data processing in the one (1) municipality and two (2) cities currently undertaking the CBMS.


Agendum 6. Updates on Philippine Identification System (PhilSys);  The PhilSys Focal Person presented the status of PhilSys registration as of 25 September 2023 and informed the body that the Mobile Registration for individuals 5 years old and below are being conducted in the province. While the printing and dissemination of the PhilID/ePhilID is still underway. She also reiterated that acceptance for request for replacement of damaged PhilIDs at the PhilSys fixed registration center located at the PSA Provincial Statistical Office-Davao del Norte.


Agendum 7. Updates on Provincial Product Accounts in Davao del Norte The Provincial Products Account Statistical Analyst, Ms. Beecham M. Concon, reported that 100 percent of the data requirements from the concerned LGUs were received and are ready for compilation. She also informed the committee of the timeline of PPA activities going forward.


Agendum 8 and 9. Presentation of Latest Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Resolutions and Presentation of Latest PSA Board Resolution, respectively.


For the information of the PSC members, Ms. Maningo presented the resolutions approved by the RSC and the PSA Board The meeting ended with the reminder of the Chairperson to the members to actively participate the laid-out activities for the 34th National Statistics Month.
