The 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) was officially convened with the CBMS Coordinating Board of the Municipality of Talaingod at Cliff’s Café, Balimba Hills, JBL, Santo Niño, Talaingod, Davao del Norte last 14th of February 2024.
Chief Statistical Specialist Pepito D. Amoyen highlighted the list of possible assistance to be provided by the CCBs. One of it is use of LGU and government facilities as the venue of the training, headquarters of the data collectors and supervisors, storage area of CBMS equipment and materials, data processing centers, community validation, and other CBMS activities as deemed necessary.
It was discussed also under the data privacy that the person conducting the data collection shall ask the respondents whether they would like to make an explicit waiver to authorize the city and municipality to disclose their identity and other relevant information about their household to the government agency which provides social protection programs for them.
In conclusion, by directly involving community members in monitoring activities, the system ensures that data collection is more accurate and timely. Local residents possess firsthand knowledge and insights into community dynamics, enabling them to provide real-time information on various aspects such as infrastructure, public services, and socio-economic conditions. This accuracy and timeliness empower LGUs to make well-informed decisions promptly.
