The Philippine Statistics Office - Davao Occidental, represented by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin, Supervising Senior Specialist Munria L. Banto, Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil, and Statistical Specialist Kimberly M. Ocariza, in partnership with the province of Davao Occidental, convened for the Provincial Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Coordinating Board.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Geoffrey P. Navarra Jr. presided over the meeting on behalf of Governor Atty. Franklin P. Bautista, at the Provincial Governor’s Office, Lacaron, Davao Occidental, on 5 February 2024. An overview of the 2024 CBMS rollout was presented, underscoring the vital role of collaboration among the members of the Provincial Coordinating Board. This will be the cornerstone of the CBMS which aims to empower grassroots communities through reliable data.
In accordance with Republic Act No. 11315, the CBMS will generate data that can be utilized by the provincial government in evidence-based policymaking and program implementation. It will streamline the identification of beneficiaries for social protection programs, conduct extensive poverty analysis, and prioritize community needs. Despite the establishment of a comprehensive information management system, the CBMS remains committed to upholding individual privacy rights as outlined in RA 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and RA 10625 (Philippine Statistical Act of 2014). Safeguards are in place to ensure responsible and secure handling of all information.
The provincial coordinating board will oversee the implementation of the CBMS in the province of Davao Occidental, facilitating necessary requirements and resolving issues that may be encountered before, during, and after the operations. Cooperation and mutual support between the province of Davao Occidental and the PSA will leverage data-driven insights to uplift communities and advance sustainable development in the province.
