City of Mati, Davao Oriental- In a heartwarming and momentous occasion, National ID personnel from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Oriental proudly delivered the national identification to one of its most senior citizens, a centenarian resident, celebrating another milestone of public service and ensuring that every Filipino is registered and given their unique identification.
The recipient, Rosario Desicoro, who is 104 years old, and a resident of the Municipality of Governor Generoso, is among the oldest residents to receive the national ID under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) program. This special delivery marks PSAs commitment to ensuring that Filipinos, regardless of age and location can actively participate, and be involved in the nation’s programs and services through the national ID.
The delivery of the ID is part of PSA saturation efforts, and to reach all citizens across the province particularly the senior citizens, and other vulnerable sectors. The centenarian’s family expressed their gratitude to the PSA personnel who personally delivered the ID. “We are grateful to PSA for personally handing my mother's national ID,” said her son. The PhilSys is envisioned to streamline public and private transactions ensure that every Filipino is provided with valid proof of identity, and provide easier access to government and financial services.
PSA Davao Oriental encourages all residents who have yet to register for PhilSys to participate, and help build a more inclusive and efficient national ID system. To ensure that every Filipino is counted and given access to basic government services, PSA continues its nationwide campaign for PhilSys registration.
