The 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) was officially convened with the CBMS Coordinating Board of the Municipality of Asuncion at Municipal Hall, Asuncion, Davao del Norte last 22nd of February 2024.
Chief Statistical Specialist Pepito D. Amoyen highlighted the Republic Act No. 11315 or An Act Establishing a Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) signed by then, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on April 17, 2019. The CBMS also is a nationwide undertaking that requires cooperation of all government and private entities to ensure smooth flow of the CBMS operations at all geographic and administrative levels. Furthermore, it was also highlighted that the LGU is the primary data collecting authority for CBMS in their respective locality.
It was also discussed the Scope and Coverage of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), one of the coverage is to update the social registries of national government agencies, particularly the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
CBMS can empower communities by involving them in data collection, analysis, and decision-making processes. This participatory approach not only generates more accurate and relevant data but also fosters a sense of ownership and accountability among community members. By engaging communities as active partners in development, LGUs can promote social cohesion and inclusivity.
