

22 February 2024, Tunggal Capitan Elementary School, Brgy. Caburan Small, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental – Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) through the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Jose Abad Santos headed by MCR Hazel Preglo, and Tunggal Capitan Elementary School spearheaded by Principal I Ronnel T. Matanod conducted outreach program in celebration of the 34th Civil Registration Month pursuant to Proclamation 682 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino and issued on 28 January 1991. The observance of this annual celebration aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents. This year’s theme is “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services”.
Tunggal Capitan Elementary School is one of the hard-to-reach schools located in Sitio Pigbaluyan, Brgy. Caburan Small, Municipality of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental. According to one of the school advisers, the community residing within the area and most of the students enrolled belonged to the Indigenous community.
The outreach program was composed of activities such as the distribution of school supplies, fun games and information dissemination regarding Civil Registration and Vital Statistics and how CRVS plays a significant role for all individuals by ensuring the registration of births, deaths, and marriages. The beneficiaries of the activity were the 52 kindergarten students of Tunggal Capitan Elementary School.
