The Philippine Statistics Office - Davao Occidental, represented by Senior Statistical Specialist Rodon S. Tahil and Statistical Specialist Kimberly M. Ocariza, in partnership with the Municipality of Sarangani, convened for the Municipal Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Coordinating Board.
Vice Mayor Marciano C. Lagudas, on behalf of Municipal Mayor Adelan B. De Arce presided over the meeting at the Municipal Hall in Mabila, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, on 7 February 2024. A discussion on the 2024 CBMS rollout underscored the cooperation and mutual support needed among the members of the Municipal Coordinating Board. This will serve as the foundation of CBMS operations in the municipality in order to facilitate community empowerment through quality and reliable data.
In accordance with Republic Act No. 11315, the CBMS will collect and analyze data that can be used by the municipality of Sarangani for evidence-based policymaking and program implementation. The identification of beneficiaries for social protection programs will be streamlined, extensive poverty analysis will be conducted, and the needs of the community will be prioritized. The CBMS also remains committed to upholding individual privacy rights as stipulated in RA 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and RA 10625 (Philippine Statistical Act of 2014), ensuring responsible and secure handling of all collected information.
The Municipal Coordinating Board will oversee the implementation of CBMS in Sarangani, addressing issues that may arise throughout the CBMS operations. The collaboration between the municipality of Sarangani and the PSA exemplifies a shared commitment to harnessing data-driven insights for sustainable development and the improvement of the quality of life for the residents.
