The Philippine Statistics Office - Davao Occidental, represented by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin, Statistical Specialist Kimberly M. Ocariza, and Statistical Analyst Charmaine R. Sabanal, in partnership with the Municipality of Santa Maria, convened for the Municipal Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Coordinating Board.
The meeting was presided over by Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Eric R. Alvaro on behalf of Municipal Mayor Claude Benjamin II D. Bautista at the Municipal Hall, Poblacion, Santa Maria, Davao Occidental, on 8 February 2024. An overview of the 2024 CBMS rollout was discussed, highlighting the collaboration needed among the members of the Municipal Coordinating Board. This lays the groundwork for the aim of the CBMS to empower communities through reliable data.
In line with Republic Act No. 11315, the CBMS will collect and analyze data that can be used by the municipality of Santa Maria to streamline the identification of beneficiaries for social protection programs, conduct extensive poverty analysis, and prioritize community needs. The CBMS also adheres to RA 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and RA 10625 (Philippine Statistical Act of 2014) to uphold individual privacy rights implementing measures to ensure responsible and secure handling of all collected information.
The Municipal Coordinating Board will oversee the implementation of CBMS in Santa Maria, facilitating necessary requirements and resolving issues that may arise before, during, and after the operations. This collaboration between the municipality and the PSA underscores a shared commitment to leverage data-driven insights for sustainable development and to improve the quality of life of the residents of Santa Maria.
