01 February 2023, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office in coordinationwith the Five (5) Municipalities of Davao Occidental kicked off with a Motorcade and Opening Program the month long celebration of the 33rd Civil Registration Month. Staff from PSA Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office and Local Civil Registry Offices participated the event. Don Marcelino Police Office, the Vice-Mayor’s office, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office also joined the activity.

The Civil Registration Month is celebrated in February of every year pursuant to Proclamation 682 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino and issued on 28 January 1991. The observance of this annual celebration aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents. This year’s CRM theme is “PSA @ 10: "Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation".

During the aforementioned event, Dr. Mark Edward Anthony M. Maruya, Vice Mayor of Don Marcelino delivered his speech. He mentioned possible reasons regarding the high number of unregistered births in the Municipality of Don Marcelino and the possible interventions on how to lessen such problem. In his speech, he emphasizes his full support in carrying out the goal of LCRO and PSA on registering the unregistered individuals specifically in the Municipality of Don Marcelino.
