Davao Region is among the six pilot regions in 2022 who will undertake the compilation of PPA wherein this initiative is recognized as a more appropriate measure and assessment of the economic performance of the province. PPA is viewed as a means to strengthen the planning and decision-making of provincial policymakers and stakeholders in creating more informed economic policies. As a follow through of the conducted “Workshop on Finalization of Benchmark Estimates for the PPA of Six Pilot Regions in 2022” last 23-27 May 2022 at the PSA Central Office wherein a discussion and consultation with Davao Region’s PPA focal persons has been done, another consultation workshop and validation was implemented with the stakeholders as part of the series of consultation towards the finalization of results. This activity was used as venue to present the economic structure of the five provinces and one HUC of Davao Region based on the PPA 2018 benchmark estimates, validate the preliminary results and solicit feedback from the stakeholders, gather record of important news and list of events, and gather support and assistance from them to enhance data support for the completion of PPA.

The event was conducted face-to-face and thru online via Zoom wherein participants in both platforms were given access to the assessment google form to solicit inputs and feedback based on the presented highlights of the preliminary results of 2018 benchmark estimates for the provinces and HUC. Thereafter was the presentation of workshop outputs per province, RLAs as a whole, and for Davao City as the only HUC in the region. An open forum was also facilitated for the follow-up inquiries, issues and concerns not covered during the assessment. The panel for this discussion composed of ANS Ilarina, SSS Magracia, and Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) Elgie Gulane of Subnational Economic Accounts Division (SEAD).

In closing the event, CSS Randolph Anthony B. Gales of PSO Davao del Sur concluded the consultation workshop by expressing his gratitude to all the participating stakeholders and partner agencies who shared their insights and feedback on the preliminary results of the compiled PPA for 2018 in Davao Region. Part of the validation of the PPA benchmark estimates was the conduct of technical visits to different sectors by the PSA Central Office and PSO PPA personnel, specifically to Electricity and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Offices in Davao City, Construction in Davao del Sur, and Mining and Quarrying in Davao de Oro last 24 June 2022.
