24 April 2024, Municipality of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental –Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), as the agency mandated by Republic Act No. 10625 to carry out, enforce and administer civil registration functions in the country shall lead all relevant activities in provision of Act No. 3753, otherwise known as the Law on Civil Registry Status.
One of the major programs of the PSA is the implementation of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) in the country to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices.
Relatedly, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) through the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Don Marcelino headed by OIC-MCR Ginalyn Dela Peña conducted the awarding of Security Papers (SECPA) to the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) beneficiaries of the three (3) Barangays in the Municipality of Don Marcelino namely: Brgy. Lawa, Brgy. Kinanga, and Brgy. Lanao.
This program is instrumental in ensuring the protection, inclusion, and empowerment of children and individuals in the Philippines. By promoting universal birth registration and facilitating access to birth certificates, these programs uphold fundamental rights, strengthen governance, and contribute to social and economic development in the country.
