22 February 2024, Brgy. Cayaponga, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental –Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), as the agency mandated by Republic Act No. 10625 to carry out, enforce and administer civil registration functions in the country shall lead all relevant activities in provision of Act No. 3753, otherwise known as the Law on Civil Registry Status.
One of the major programs of the PSA is the implementation of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) in the country to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices.
Relatedly, In the celebration of the 34th Civil Registration Month, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Occidental Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) through the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Jose Abad Santos headed by MCR Hazel Preglo conducted awarding of SECPA to a total of 104 Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) beneficiaries.
The Civil Registration Month is celebrated in February of every year pursuant to Proclamation 682 signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino and issued on 28 January 1991. The observance of this annual celebration aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents. This year’s theme is “CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services”.
