The year-on-year regional inflation of Davao Region moved upward to 9.6 percent in September 2022, from 8.9 percent in August 2022. This is the highest recorded inflation since January 2022. The average inflation for the first nine months of the year stood at 5.1 percent. (Table 1 and Figure 1). Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) measures the real value of the Philippine peso in a given period relative to its value in the base period. In Davao Region, a peso in 2018 is worth 84 centavos in September 2022. This month’s PPP is lower than in September 2021 at 93 centavos. Over 2.33 million part of the total workforce population in Davao Region Davao Region's total population 15 years old and over for July 2022 was estimated at 3.72 million. Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) during this period was at 62.7 percent, accounting for 2.33 million Davaoeños (see Table 1). The average inflation for the first six months of the year stood at 6.3 percent. (Table 1 and Figure 1). Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) measures the real value of the Philippine peso in a given period relative to its value in the base period. In Davao Region, a peso in 2018 is worth 85 centavos in August 2022. This month’s PPP is lower than in August 2021 at 92 centavos. Sixty percent of the population 15 years old and over were in the labor force The number of persons who were in the labor force was at 2.22 million of the estimated 3.64 million population 15 years old and over of Davao Region in 2021. This translates to a labor force participation rate (LFPR) of 60.9 percent or 609 in every 1000 of the population aged 15 years and over were either employed or unemployed. This is 1.1 and 3.3 percentage points higher compared to the LFPR of year 2019 and 2020, respectively.
