The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office XI (PSA RSSO XI) strongly supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in its directive requiring all BSP-Supervised Financial Institutions (BSFIs) to acceptall formats of the NationalID as sufficient proof of identity for financial transactions, without the need for any other supporting ID. Under BSP Memorandum No. 2025-012, banks and other financial institutions shall:

  • Accept all formats of the National ID, such as the card, paper, and digital, without requiring supplemental identification.

  • Utilize the National ID Check (https://everify.gov.ph/check) to verify the authenticity of any National ID format.

  • Update all branch policies to include formats of National ID in accepted government IDs, and ensure that all personnel are equipped to authenticate them.

PSA RSSO XI reminds BSFIs that the refusal to accept valid National IDs without just cause is a violation of Republic Act No. 11055, which carries penalties of up to ₱500,000.
