New Corella’s live births decreased by 35.2 percent
In 2023, the Municipality of New Corella recorded 160 live births, corresponding to a crude birth rate (CBR) of 2.7, or approximately 2 births per thousand population.
Over the past 5 years, live births have decreased by 18.8 percent, from 197 in 2019 to 160 in 2023. A slight decrease of 35.2 percent was observed in 2023 compared to the 247 recorded in 2022. (Figure 1)

More females than males
Of the total 160 registered live births in New Corella in 2023, there were more females than males. There were 78 male births or 48.8 percent, while 82 female births made up 51.3 percent.
As a result, the sex ratio at birth was 95 males per 100 females. (Figure 2)

January recorded the highest number of registered births
In 2023, most live births occurred in January with 23 births or 14.4 percent. Following January, August recorded a high number of births, with 19 or 11.9 percent, and then March with 18 births or 11.3 percent.
Conversely, September had the least number of births with 7 births or 4.4 percent. (Figure 3)

Majority of births were attended by health professionals
Of the total registered live births in New Corella, 159 (99.4%) or the majority of live births were attended by health professionals.
In contrast, only one birth (0.6%) was attended by traditional birth attendants. (Figure 4)

Majority of births delivered at health facilities
In 2023, majority of live births in New Corella were delivered at health facilities (156 or 97.5%).
On the other hand, only 3 births (1.9%) were delivered in other locations, while 1 birth (0.6%) occurred at home, and. (Figure 5)
Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 25-29 years old
In 2023, most live births were born to mothers aged 25 to 29 years old, with 48 births, accounting for 30.0 percent of the total.
However, babies born to adolescent mothers, those younger than 20 years old, recorded 14 births, making up 8.8 percent of the total. (Figure 6)
