Davao de Oro Provincial Statistical Office joins the nation in celebrating the 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM) with the theme, “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with Informed Decisions, Better Policies”, last 03 October 2022.

October of every year has been declared as the National Statistics Month pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, that aims to promote, enhance, and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics, and elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the country. For this month-long celebration, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) spearheads various activities and enjoins its field offices to do the same.

PSA Davao de Oro started the opening ceremony for the 33rd NSM with a motorcade in the premises of the capital municipality of the province. It was then followed by an opening message delivered by Statistical Analyst Sharlene Grace M. Jaurigue on behalf of Officer-In-Charge, Supervising Statistical Specialist Nova P. Vicente who was attending the 15th National Statistics Convention in Manila. The attendees, who were both the regular staff and contract of service workers (COSWs) of the office, were encouraged to be one with the government in taking part in the country’s effort to fully recover through the adoption of strong responsive socio-economic policies based on relevant and accurate statistics.

Moreover, a poster-making contest among COSWs took place in the morning, and in the afternoon was the NSM Jingle dance contest, still participated by the PSA-hired personnel grouped per team. After the selection of winners, cash prizes and goodies were awarded to them. In capping off the whole-day event, Registration Officer II Judith A. Perito expressed her gratitude to all participants for their lively cooperation in the different activities and she reminded the team to continue the spirit for this was just the beginning of the month-long celebration of the 33rd NSM.
