City of Mati, Davao Oriental- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Davao Oriental collaborated with the Revitalized Police sa Barangay (RPSB) to serve the residents in far-flung barangay, particularly at barangay Don Mariano Marcos, Lupon, and the neighboring sitios on 14 August 2024. The PSA personnel was led by Registration Officer II Marlon A. Mag-aso, Registration Officer I Kristel Joy A. Obeal, Birth Registration Agent Jenny Rose Magandam, and Registration Kit Operator Adriane Carl Guiwan for PhilSys.
During the event, residents submitted requests for civil registration documents, including Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Death Certificates, and CENOMAR. The activity also extended its services to unregistered individuals, with a focus on children aged 1 to 4 years. Residents also obtain their printed National ID (paper version) during the event, facilitating their late registration for birth and other personal transactions. The team leader of the RPSB expressed sincere appreciation to the leaders of PSA Davao Oriental for accommodating their request. The leader commented, "The activity was a great success and it significantly alleviated the burden on residents seeking civil registration documents, sparing them the need to travel to another municipality and incur higher transportation costs.” The residents were also grateful that this kind of service was now made accessible to them through the efforts of their officials.
The successful launch of the outreach initiative to bring this essential service to the residents of the remote barangays was commendable. This collaboration aimed to address the unique challenges faced by communities in far-flung areas and can be considered a valuable tool to ensure citizens have access to critical government services and support. The success of this collaboration between PSA Davao Oriental and RPSB underscores the importance of continued efforts to bridge the gap between urban centers and remote communities. Both organizations have committed to exploring further opportunities for collaboration to ensure sustained support for the most underserved populations in the province.
