City of Mati, Davao Oriental- The first day of October marks the opening of the month-long celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month in the Philippines. PSA Davao Oriental together with its partner agencies, along with other participants commemorated the opening with a huge impact, highlighting the role of technology in advancing the statistical system and the quality of statistics through the adoption of digital tools and platforms optimizing government services to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of statistics.
The National Statistics Month Celebration, an annual event, is organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in collaboration with various government agencies, academic institutions, and statistical professionals across the nation. This year’s theme, “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation,” promotes the importance of embracing digital tools and innovation to drive progress and sustainable development.
The opening ceremony, held on 01 October 2024 at the Ground Floor of the PSA Provincial Office, City of Mati, Davao Oriental featured distinguished speakers from the Provincial Planning Office and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) being the sponsor of the opening program for this year’s opening ceremony, who delivered their insights and keynote addresses. Attendees from the different government offices also participated in the motorcade around the city in support of the celebration. They also gazed at the data exhibit showcasing the data from the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), PhilSys Step 2 Registration, and Data on Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the province.
In addition to the opening ceremony, the National Statistics Month celebration will feature a wide range of engaging activities throughout October, including statistical quizzes for PSA employees, students, and other stakeholders, and other statistical contests and endeavors.
