26 May 2023 – CITY OF TAGUM. As the highest policy-making body on statistical matters in the province, the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) in Davao del Norte along with its members assembled for its 2nd Regular PSC Meeting for CY 2023 on 26 May 2023, at the Training Room of Philippine Statistics Authority- Provincial Statistical Office-Davao del Norte. The meeting started at 11:50 o’clock in the morning and was presided by the newly instated PSC Chairperson, Acting-Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) of Provincial Planning Development Office (PPDO), Davao del Norte, Engr. Maria Hazel C. Zafra, EnP, MMPA. The meeting also was attended by representatives from twenty one (21) PSC member offices.
Highlighted during the convening were the agenda, to wit:
1.) Training on Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) with the Business Permits and Licensing Offices (BPLOs) as participants;
2.) Creation of Provincial Census on Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) Coordinating Board (PCCB) and Creation of City/Municipal Census on Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) Coordination Board (C/MCCB);
3.) Updates on the Implementation of Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS);
4.) Updates on Philippine Identification System (PhilSys);
5.) Updates on Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) in Davao del Norte;
6.) Presentation of Latest Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Resolutions and PSA Board Resolutions.
Agendum 1. Provincial Products Account Focal Person, Mr. Geoffrey A. Pamaylaon, discussed the scheduled training regarding the use of the Philippine Standard Industry Classification (PSIC). Chairperson, Engineer Zafra solicited a motion to conduct a 5-day face-to-face provincial training regarding the use and integration of the PSIC on the existing applications of the LGUs and then on duly approved by the body.
Agendum 2. The Head of the Secretariat, Ms. Michelle O. Maningo continued to discuss the timeline of the conduct of the 2022 Census on Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) in Davao del Norte and proceeded to inform the committee the updates of the operation and reiterated the manpower requirements.
Moreover, the Vice-Chairperson reiterated the role of the PSC in accordance to the approved PSA Board Resolutions No. 4, Approving the Terms of Reference of the Provincial, City, and Municipal Census Coordinating Board on the Conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries and “that PSCs shall serve as Provincial Census Coordinating Boards (PCCBs) and those provinces without PSC shall create the PCCB for 2022 CAF” (Item 3); and 4. Instructs the RSCs to serve as the basic coordinating mechanism for 2022 CAF at the regional level”;
Agendum 3. Ms. Maningo provided the committee with the update regarding the CBMS operation in the province, and noted that completion rate of the data collection and data processing in one (1) municipality and two (2) cities currently undertaking the CBMS.
Agendum 4. The PhilSys Focal Person presented the status of PhilSys registration as of 22 May 2023 and informed the body that the Mobile Registration for individuals 5 years old and below are being conducted in the province. While the printing and dissemination of the PhilID/e-PhilID is still underway. The Vice-Chairperson added that requests for replacement of damaged PhilIDs are now being accepted at the PhilSys fixed registration center located at the PSA-Provincial Statistical Office- Davao del Norte.
Agendum 5. The Focal Person of the Provincial Products Account reported the names of LGUs who already submitted their data for compilation and ask the cooperation of LGUs to submit the data needs of the laid-out timeline of PPA activities.
Agendum 6. The Vice-Chairperson presented the resolutions undertaken and approved by the PSA Board and RSC for information of all members.
The meeting ended with the announcement of the Chairperson of the presentation of related statistical updates of member offices once they convene for the PSC’s third quarter regular meeting for the year 2023.
