National ID Registration in Davao Occidental reached more than 17,000 registrants for the first semester of 2024
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) successfully registered 17,523 individuals in the Province of Davao Occidental in the 1st half of the year 2024. (Table 1)
Eighty-six percent of the total population of the province or 275,390 individuals had been registered in the PhilSys based on the results of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing of 317,159 individuals.
Among the municipalities, Malita had the highest registration with 90.18 percent of completion, followed by Santa Maria with 89.45 percent, Jose Abad Santos with 85.47 percent, Don Marcelino with 81.97 percent and the municipality of Sarangani with 76.80 percent. (Table 1)
PhilSys started registration of children aged 1-4 year old in Davao Occidental Province
PhilSys Davao Occidental started registration of toddlers aged 1-4 years old in the month of February 2024 with huge success as parents was encouraged to register their toddlers to the National ID. Parents/Guardians accompanied their children during the registration as it is required for them to present their National ID. The PhilSys team had already registered 4,195 children aged 1-4 years old since February 2024.
Municipality of Malita has the highest number of PhilSys registrants in 1st half of 2024
The Municipality of Malita contributed the largest share in the number of registrants which reached 32.5 percent of the total number of registrations in the province for the period of January to June 2024. Municipality of Jose Abad Santos with 25.7 percent, Santa Maria with 16.7 percent, Don Marcelino with 15.1 percent and Sarangani with 10 percent. (Table 2)
The PhilSys National ID Registration was conducted through co-location efforts with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) activities such as the Family Development Session (FDS) for their 4ps Beneficiaries, mobile registration approach in different barangays, school registrations in Elementary Schools, High Schools and Colleges, and caravans organized by other agencies.
National ID Registrations co-locates with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during the 4Ps Family Development Sessions
Starting February 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) together with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducts authentication activity of the National IDs of the 4Ps Beneficiaries. The aim of this activity is to authenticate the National IDs of the beneficiary and their members. Unregistered 4Ps beneficiaries were also registered during the activity.
PhilSys Davao Occidental successfully authenticated the National IDs of 28,378 individuals throughout the provinces. The team already visited 91 barangays out of 105 total barangays in the province. (Table 3)
This activity greatly bolstered the National ID registration with 13,326 (76.05%) out of the 17,523 registrations from January to June 2024. (Table 4)
Correction of Entry/ies in demographic information is now available in PSA Davao Occidental
Updating services of demographic characteristics in the National ID is already in PSA Davao Occidental starting last June 2024. The update includes changes/correction in name, birthdate, sex, address, blood type and civil status. The National ID owner must bring required supporting document like birth certificate and other documents to based the changes/correction. As of June 2024, PSA served a total of 25 clients that apply for updating of information.
Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on August 06, 2018, aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines. The valid proof of identity provided by the PhilSys shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions and shall be a social and economic platform that promotes seamless social service delivery and strengthens financial inclusion for both public and private services. As a foundational digital ID System, the PhilSys will transform how services are delivered in the Philippines, and accelerate our transition into a digital economy, including to enable presence-less, paperless, and cashless transactions.
