The month of March is celebrated in the Philippines as the Fire Prevention Month. Philippine Statistical Office – Davao Occidental headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Jessie A. Madulin, together with the other government agencies and stakeholders joins the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Malita in the Motorcade around Malita, Davao Occidental last 01 March 2023. The motorcade commenced the Kick-off ceremony of the Month-Long Celebration of the Fire Prevention Month with the theme, “Sa Pag-iwas Sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-isa”. 
 

By the mandate of Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, s.1966, March is observed as the Fire Prevention Month to remind the public the importance of Fire Safety. According to PAGASA, March is considered to be one of the warmest months in the Philippines, temperature and humidity reach their maximum levels throughout the archipelago. It marks the beginning of the summer season in the Philippines. It is also the month that has one of the most alarming fire incidents in the country, based on data by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). 
 

 After the motorcade, a short program was held at the Malita Fire Station where Acting Municipal Fire Marshal SFO2 Mark Bryan T. Decierdo welcomes everyone and reiterate the essence of this month's theme, “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, hindi ka nag-iisa". He also shares some activities that the BFP will be conducting for the entire month. Provincial Fire Director CINSP Karl P. Badilles also gives a short talk about the causes of fire and the inappropriate human habit in using appliances that may cause fire in the household.

At the end of the program giving of certificates and photo opportunity follows before everyone went back to their respective offices.
