Talaingod’s live births decreased by 9.9 percent
In 2023, the Municipality of Talaingod recorded 209 live births, corresponding to a crude birth rate (CBR) of 7.2, or approximately 7 births per thousand population.
Over the past 5 years, live births have increased by 10.6 percent, from 189 in 2019 to 209 in 2023. A slight decrease of 9.9 percent was observed in 2023 compared to the 232 recorded in 2022. (Figure 1)

More males than females
Of the total 506 registered live births in Talaingod in 2023, more males than females. There were 263 male births or 54.5 percent, while 243 female births made up 45.5 percent.
As a result, the sex ratio at birth was 108 males per 100 females. (Figure 2)
January recorded the highest number of registered births
In 2023, most live births occurred in January with 32 births or 15.3 percent. Following January, August recorded a high number of births, with 27 or 12.9 percent, and then February with 24 births or 11.5 percent.
Conversely, December had the least number of births with 7 births or 3.3 percent. (Figure 3)

Two-thirds of births were traditionally attended
Of the total registered live births in Talaingod, 139 or a two-thirds of live births were attended by a traditional birth attendants or hilot.
On the other hand, only 64 births or 30.6 percent were attended by health professionals, and 6 births or 2.9 percent were attended by others. (Figure 4)
Majority of births delivered at home
In 2023, majority of live births in Talaingod were delivered at home. There were 152 births, or 72.7 percent were delivered at home.
On the other hand, only 56 births or 26.8 percent occurred in health facilities, such as hospitals, birthing clinics, specialized care centers, or similar facilities.
Also, only 1 birth or 0.5 percent were delivered in other locations. (Figure 5)
Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 20-24 years old
In 2023, most live births were born to mothers aged 20 to 24 years old, with 54 births, accounting for 25.8 percent of the total.
However, babies born to adolescent mothers, those younger than 20 years old, recorded 46 births, making up 22.0 of the total. (Figure 6)
